Inspiring Hearts and Minds

Volunteering

Banff Elementary School loves and greatly appreciates our volunteers! We require all volunteers who help in the school or on field trips to complete an annual Vulnerable Sector Check through the RCMP and sign a Confidentiality Contract as per Canadian Rockies Public Schools’ Administrative Procedure 490 - School Volunteers and FOIPP. Prior to volunteering, please email your legal name to the school office at bes.info@crps.ca to request an RCMP Fee Waiver Letter and we will email you back the letter, required forms and instructions. Often Vulnerable Sector Checks can be completed by the RCMP within 24 hours.

The many ways to volunteer at BES...

Squirrel Street Barriers

We need help with the Squirrel Street barricades. If you are going by and see the barricade should be out (8:00 am or 2:45 pm) or be returned to its spot by the fence (8:30 am or 3:20 pm), please feel comfortable moving it as needed. This would be greatly appreciated!!

In the Classroom or on Field Trips

If you would like to spend time helping in your child’s classroom or on field trips, please speak directly to the teacher.

School Council

Parents play an important role in student success. School councils allow parents to participate in decisions that impact student learning. By contributing knowledge, perspective and ideas at school council meetings, parents are actively contributing to the success of our school community. We welcome all parents to join our Council meetings to learn, observe, and have a voice. School Council generally meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 3:30 pm.  Whether you can join for one meeting, or every meeting, for 30 minutes or the full hour and a half, your involvement is welcome.

Lunch Days Helpers

The perfect way to have a presence in the school without requiring a lot of time. Our Lunch Program will start again in the fall and we are looking for volunteers from 11:45 am - 12:45 pm. Please contact Susan Hughes at shughes2014@outlook.com for more information.

Mountain Readers

One hour, one time per week can be the most rewarding way to give your time. Help BES students become amazing readers by reading out loud with students in a one-on-one setting. Please click here or email mountainreaders@gmail.com for more information.

Nature Explorers

If you want to spend your time with kids but prefer to be outdoors, volunteer a morning, afternoon, or full day as a parent chaperone on a Nature Explorers field trip. Learn about our Park, and see BES students learning to become Naturalists and Banff National Park ambassadors!
